Navigating the Publishing Process

The publishing process can be difficult to navigate.  There are several steps and a significant investment of time and energy to getting your book published for the world to appreciate.  In this process, it is important to have an author advocate to support you throughout this process and help you realize the rewards that await you.  At Catalyst Publishers, we believe that you are the creative genius behind the work, and we work closely with our authors to ensure that they are satisfied with the final product.  As your editor, we believe that it is our role to help facilitate the authoring process for you.  The more efficient your writing process becomes, the faster we can get your book to your readers.

We have a three step process for helping you get your textbook published.

1. Book Proposal
2. Manuscript Formatting
3. Manuscript Submission 

Step 1 is the book proposal.  If you are considering writing a new book, this is where you will start.  We have a straightforward form that goes through all of the pertinent details about your project.  It is important that you will this form out completely and send it to us with all of the requested documents.  This is how we evaluate all new submissions and determine how and when we can get it to the market for you.  If you are filling out this form, you should have already come up with a detailed table of contents, written one of the chapters, and thought about potential contributors and editors.

Step 2 is the formatting of the actual manuscript.  We have a detailed page that goes through the particular style, formatting, and other appropriate guidelines for preparing your manuscript.  You should read through those specifications carefully.  A properly formatted manuscript greatly streamlines the publishing process and helps prevent significant delays in getting your work to the market.  If there is any part you are not clear about, please let us know as quickly as possible.

Step 3 is submission of the manuscript.  As your manuscript is maturing, we will send you a standard publishing contract.  Once you and all co-authors have signed the publishing contract, you will be eligible to submit your completed manuscript.  Step 3 also includes the final review of the manuscript, where our editors will carefully go through your submission and correct any formatting or style-related issues.  You may be asked to make changes or corrections to content at this stage.  Once this process is completed, your manuscript will go through the final preparation phase for publishing.

Once these steps are completed, we will transform your manuscript into a textbook suitable for printing and online publication.
